Laser Acupuncture

You may have heard of low-level (or cold) laser therapy as a cosmetic treatment, or in the local news for assisting in recovery. Laser acupuncture therapy combines Traditional Chinese Medicine techniques with the amazing benefits of laser light. Depending on the frequency used, laser light has a wide range of health benefits, and laser acupuncture treatment delivers these directly to your meridian channels where much of our energy circulates.

In our clinic, we use the new development of multi-laser-systems adds completely new possibilities to its benefits, and who can respond. Now up to 12 points can be treated simultaneously with a high energy density, through our Webber needle system from Germany.

The benefits of the laser acupuncture treatment we offer to patients at our Glenview clinic:

  • No side effects
  • No risk of infection. Weber needles  (or laser needles) are placed on acupuncture points, with no penetration.
  • Often referred to as pain-free acupuncture, laser therapy is well suited for  seniors, pain-sensitive patients and children.
  • Up to 12 treatment points at the same time
  • Combination of red and infra-red lasers (different depths of penetration and effects)

The areas where laser acupuncture treatment can be applied are all indications of traditional acupuncture, such as Spine syndrome. They include:

  • Pain Management. A review of clinical trials found that higher-quality research was linked to better results with laser acupuncture therapy as a method of pain relief.
  • Rehabilitation after stroke. Clinical studies also show improvement in muscle spasms caused by cerebral palsy, a type of stroke that happens at birth.
  • Arthritis of all kinds. For example, a trial comparing laser acupuncture therapy to reflexology massage found that it significantly improved overall health, reduced inflammatory markers and increased cellular energy production. Reflexology uses energy points on the feet or hands, so it relies on some similar principles to acupuncture.
  • Other inflammatory conditions, such as tendinitis  and asthma.
  • Reduced scarring and improved wound healing through improved cell regeneration.
  • Improved circulation and blood supply to under-served parts of the body.
  • Migraine / headache and trigeminal neuralgia. These conditions can feature over-sensitivity to pain, so painless laser acupuncture won’t aggravate the problem by causing you more irritation.
  • Dermatological conditions including eczema, atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, chronic wounds, acne, herpes and gingivitis.

Life Balance Clinic is one of the first acupuncture offices in Illinois who started offering Laser Acupuncture treatment. If you are considering acupuncture treatment for yourself or family members, give us a call and schedule a consultation with our lead doctor - Vadim Dekhtyar, DACM.
