Laser Acupuncture

You may have heard of low-level (or cold) laser therapy as a cosmetic treatment, or in the local news for assisting in recovery. Laser acupuncture therapy combines Traditional Chinese Medicine techniques with the amazing benefits of laser light. Depending on the frequency used, laser light has a wide range of health benefits, and laser acupuncture treatment delivers these directly to your meridian channels where much of our energy circulates.

Indications for Laser Acupuncture

There are many reasons why patients seek laser acupuncture in Chicago. For example, research shows that laser acupuncture effectively relieves pain and inflammation, including in conditions ranging from injury recovery to tendinitis to asthma.

Additionally, laser acupuncture is indicated in neurological conditions that involve paralysis, overactivity, or both. Clinical studies show reduced muscle spasms in children with cerebral palsy, and faster, improved recovery after stroke. As for overactivity, migraines and trigeminal neuralgia can be effectively relieved with laser acupuncture.

In a way, laser acupuncture acts as regenerative medicine, too. Its ability to enhance cell regeneration indicates its use in poor wound healing and scar reduction. Through improving circulation throughout the body, laser acupuncture can be an effective treatment for slow exercise recovery, fatigue, chronic wounds, and cold extremities. Improved regeneration and circulation can help a number of skin conditions, too, such as acne, eczema, dermatitis, and psoriasis.

  • We use both red and infra-red lasers, which have different penetration levels and benefits.

How is Acupuncture Performed?

In our clinic, we use the new development of multi-laser-systems adds completely new possibilities to its benefits, and who can respond. Now up to 12 points can be treated simultaneously with a high energy density, through our Weber needle system from Germany.

The Weber system features 12 lasers that can be attached to the skin and set of red and infra-red lasers, in a range of power levels. After a detailed consultation to find the underlying causes of your condition from a Chinese medicine perspective, we set the weberneedles system to the right frequency and power level. Then, we attach the lasers to the right acupuncture points with adhesives instead of needles. Treatment sessions generally last 20 minutes, then the lasers are removed. You will be given glasses to stop the laser light from damaging your eyes if you accidentally see them during treatment.

Life Balance Clinic is one of the first acupuncture offices in Illinois who started offering Laser Acupuncture treatment. If you are considering acupuncture treatment for yourself or family members, give us a call and schedule a consultation with our lead doctor - Vadim Dekhtyar, DACM.
