I wish I was a better writer because this is very important for anyone who is diagnosed with Macular Degeneration. After all, our vision is at stake. Recently, I was diagnosed with Wet Macular Degeneration, and I have the “black hole” in my left eye vision. In my right eye, I have Dry Macular Degeneration. Initially hesitant about opting for shots or injections, I remained undecided until I stumbled upon the invaluable reviews shared by fellow Macular Degeneration patients, recounting their experiences at Dr. Vadim Dekhtyar’s practice. It helped me make the decision to call his office and make an appointment. He is a wonderful doctor. In addition to the Acunova Acupuncture treatments, Dr. Vadim advised me on what vitamins to take for eye health, what foods are the most beneficial and which foods are not helpful. He gave me eye exercises to do to strengthen the muscles in my eyes. I love this last one – walk, walk, and walk and get that circulation going. I am now up to 7,000 steps per day and I will be increasing my step count each week. I saw a Retina Specialist at the very beginning of my treatments with Dr. Vadim and I again saw the Retina Specialist two days after my last treatment with Dr. Vadim. The Retina Doctor said the Wet Macular Degeneration in my left eye was stable and holding, so I do not need eye injections. Additionally, the Dry Macular Degeneration in my right eye was in GREAT condition. The Retina Doctor did not say that at the first visit and seemed very surprised at my second visit. After seeing Dr. Dekhtyar for postnasal drip - I am truly amazed. With just 4-5 sessions of acupuncture, my nose is not running, I am not sneezing and I can breathe normally! In addition to this - the acupuncture truly helped my stress levels (which he wasn't even treating). I have retina pigmentosa (night blindness) since childhood. For as long as I remember, I cannot see in low light where other people can see. Recently, after I hit my mid 40s. I started loosing my peripheral vision. I can’t follow flying balls (e.g. tennis ball), I can’t locate mouse cursor on the computer screen, If I drop something on the floor, I can’t see it unless I back out. How I heard about AcuVision treatment? Recently I’ve been searching the internet for new developments in the treatment of my condition, but I haven’t seen any. Last time I searched, I prayed the Lord to help me find Herbal treatment – not medical. The search results came back with Acupuncture treatment. This treatment is not a cure for retina pigmentosa, rather it is to revers peripheral vision loss and/or prevent it from getting worse. I was glad to find a local Acupuncture doctor that works with patients that has my condition. I called Dr. Dekhtyar’s office, and I explained my condition and the reason for my call. The doctor explained how this procedure works and arranged for the first visit. The doctor took the time to understand my condition completely. He looks at the condition from a total health and diet perspective. The procedure includes 10 day intense treatment (3 days a week). The needles go in the hands and the sole of the feet, and forehead. No, the needles don’t go in the eyes 😊. Each day I spent about two and a half hours at the doctor’s office. In terms of pain, it’s a needle of course it will hurt a little, but some spots hurt more than others. Once the needles are put in place, I don’t feel any pain.

I was diagnosed with Macular Degeneration about a year and a half ago. I was told by my doctor there's nothing that can be done. The only thing they could do was give me vitamins and that just was not good enough for me. So, I did my research and found that there was something out there, acupuncture. Looked it up, researched it, found that Doctor Boel in Denmark came up with something that sounded promising. So, I thought I am not going to sit back and just wait for myself to go blind. I am not have that vision, so I became proactive. Found Doctor Dekhtyar. Talked with him, he spoke with me, told me what was out there, what was promising, what to expect, what not to expect. And I thought, I'm giving it a shot. So, in my eighths visit I'm very happy with the way things have gone. I have a little bit of fuzziness in my right eye and it seems to have gotten better in certain lighting, so I'm hoping fingers crossed that if it doesn't reverse it, at least it stops it or slows it down. Dr. Vadim is an exceptional Doctor and has helped me tremendously with my vestibule migraines, eye convergence issues and overall stress. I started going to him for cupping which relieves my stress I carry in my neck and back. Once starting acupuncture to get to the root of my health issues I have noticed huge improvement of my day to day function. I don’t feel nauseated and tired. For the first time in my life, I had difficulties completing the required vision test when I was renewing my driver's license. It was at that moment that I remembered that three years ago I had been diagnosed with Macular Degeneration. My eye doctor told me that there was no treatment for this condition only an observation. Macular Degeneration is an incurable genetic disease which runs in our family and has already robbed my cousin and my brother of their vision. I myself developed the proverbial black hole in my one (dry) eye a year ago, wondering every morning if my remaining (wet) eye would still function that day. Dr. Vadim Dekhtiar’s acupuncture treatment for AMD was my last hope to postpone the inevitable. I have had good success with acupuncture in the past and was already aware of experimental AMD treatments which, of course, require very special training and expertise. Coming to this area, I heard of Dr. Vadim’s reputation and was sure that he would not want to compromise it by offering questionable interventions. The treatment I got was a very intensive course lasting about a month, to be repeated periodically in the future. For me, having no idea what my response was going to be, it was a tremendous investment physically, financially and emotionally, but about halfway into it, I was beginning to notice a slight overall improvement and was anxious to follow up on it during the next appointment with my retinal specialist. And indeed, the exam confirmed that my condition was stable, not requiring injections, and showing a slight improvement in vision. I was very skeptical about trying it but after many years of different pharmaceutical therapies without major relief I have decided to give it a go. I have been seeing Dr. Dekhtyar for a couple of months now, and he has completely transformed my life. I initially came to him for migraine headaches, anxiety, and hip pain, and I am so much better in all these areas and am on lower prescription medications now too. The problems with my vision started 15 years ago when I was first diagnosed with Open-Angle Glaucoma. About 5 years ago my vision dropped dramatically. It when my doctor told me that I developed Age-related Macular Degeneration. I was given a course of injections directly to my eyes, but it didn’t help. Thank you for introducing a new alternative treatment for my eyes. It helped more than the shots I took for my macular degeneration. I am planning to continue this acupuncture treatment. The shots from the retinal doctor I used to go to were done directly in my eyes and still helped less than the acupuncture which wasn't. Thanks so much!

Approximately 15 years ago, I noticed an issue with my vision. For the first several years I did very little to address this issue as I was able to function normally in my day-to-day life. I then began to notice a slow deterioration in my vision. It became more difficult to play sports, see far distances and see at night or in dimly lit restaurants. I then decided to get tested by eye specialists. After extensive testing, I was diagnosed with Stargardt's disease with two mutations in the ABCA4 gene. I have been fortunate to have a very slow proregression however I wanted to be proactive and do whatever I could to restore my vision or slow the progression even more. Since there are no solutions for treating or curing my condition using western medicine, I turned to eastern medicine and found Dr. Dekhtyar. Under Dr. Dekhtyar's acupuncture program, I was treated twice a day, 4 times a week for 2.5 weeks. During my first session, Dr. Dekhtyar tested my vision using various eye charts and color tests. At the end of the program, Dr. Dekhtyar re-tested my vision. I was able to read the eye charts better and I was able to successfully identify shapes in the color tests. This was very exciting as I was not successful in any of the color tests prior to treatment. Also, since my treatment I am more comfortable driving at night and have noticed some subtle improvements in my distance vision. I understand that this is not a cure but it has been very encouraging to see these improvements even if they are temporary. I will continue my treatment bi-annually with Dr. Dekhtyar in hopes of further improving my vision. In the meantime Dr. Dekhtyar has provided me with suggestions on diet and exercise designed to help with my eye and overall health.

In doing research on Complimentary treatments for hard to control high eye pressures from glaucoma, I found information about an acupuncture protocol called AcuNova which has been widely used in Europe for the last 20 years. I started the treatment protocol which is not painful and there has been some improvement in my condition.

I'm a healthy 60 year old male with Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP). For decades I have done endless research on my eye condition, keeping up on any info that can help myself & my family. Currently, I am seeing Dr. Vadim Dekhtyar, Licensed Acupuncturist. In the past, I have been to several sports medicine Doctors for shoulder flexibility with joint and neck tightness issues, which are being caused by my carpal tunnel pain. This led to many visits to Chiropractors for adjustments and weekly massage therapies. While there are benefits to the non-invasive procedures that the Chiropractors use, they produce only temporal relief (1-2 days following the massage therapy). I do prefer the longer lasting relief/pain management brought on by having Acupuncture treatments. While these treatments do take longer to have, its effects felt, it is a much better solution for me because, when the pain from the carpal tunnel subsides, my neck and shoulder tension also goes way down along with it. I would rather have a weekly Acupuncture treatment over weekly adjustment and massage therapy (which lasts only for a few days worth of relief)."
